Fitter/Welder

Position Summary
Use hand-welding, magnetic drill, handheld grinder, flame-cutting, plasma torch to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
•Follow company safety rules in accordance with OSHA regulations such as: Wearing PPE, safety shoes, safety glasses, PAPR welding helmets with filter blower motors, face shield, ear plugs, gloves and other required PPE to prevent burns and eye injuries.
•Plan work from drawings or specifications or use their knowledge of fluxes and base metals to analyze the parts to be joined.
•Select and set up welding equipment, execute the planned welds, and examine welds to ensure that they meet standards or specifications.
•Examine weld during the welding process; observe problems with the weld and adjust the speed, voltage, amperage, or feed of the wire or rod.
•In automated welding, follow specified layouts, work orders, or blueprints; load parts correctly and constantly monitor the machine to ensure that it produces the desired bond.
•Operate and monitor cutting machines similar to those used by welding machine operators.
•Work indoors, sometimes in a confined area designed to contain sparks and glare.
•Lift heavy objects and work in a variety of awkward positions, while bending, stooping, or standing to
perform work overhead.
•Operate cranes, forklifts and electric lifts.
•Perform daily and periodical maintenance on equipment used in department.
•Act professionally as a team player at all times.
•Cross train as directed and be willing to work at any production or shipping position in the plant.

•Responsible for keeping weld cell organized and clean with a strong emphasis on 5-S.
•Perform quality inspections to ensure part accuracy per the blueprints.
•Follow the buddy check system and document.
•Must currently be certified or be able to attain the appropriate weld certification within 15 days of employment.
•Provide accurate time allocations by job number on all work completed.
•Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

Experience: 6 plus months of experience

Other Requirements: Must be able to read and interpret shop plans and specifications. Must be able to use a square and read the tape measure to within 1/16th inch tolerance. Must be able to lift and transport up to 70 pounds on occasion and be able to learn to operate forklifts.

 

Drafter

Position Summary
Drafting and Detailing of erection drawings, shop fabrication prints, bill of material listings utilizing construction knowledge.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
•Utilize AutoCAD, Inventor and Excel in the drafting and detailing of new product lines.
•Ability to stay focused on projects until completion.
•Prepare part drawings for manufacturing and assembly drawings and product manuals for field assembly as directed by the product engineer.

Education: Associates Degree (Two-year college or technical school requires

Experience: No prior experience necessary

Computer Skills: Required: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, AutoCAD (or equivalent), AutoDesk Inventor (or equivalent).  Desired: Adobe InDesign (or equivalent publishing software)

Certification & Licenses: Driver’s License

Other Requirements: Ability to read and interpret building plans, specifications, building codes and industry standards. Basic math skills and use of a calculator. Technical writing skills to create product manuals.

Safety & Quality Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining safety and quality as part of the culture throughout the company by planning, implementing, coordinating and maintaining systems and programs under the direction of the General Manager. As Safety Manager, candidate will be responsible for maintaining compliance with various agencies; as well as guiding continuous improvement in safety performance partnering with the Safety Committee and employees. As Quality Manager, candidate will be responsible to ensure processes, documents and information are in place and maintained for accreditation systems, including but not limited to welder qualification, corrective action systems, and tool calibration systems. The Safety & Quality Manager will routinely report key performance indicators regarding Safety and Quality to the Management group. Communications will include safety performance and risk assessments, discrepant materials and processes requiring evaluation and/or potential solutions to mitigate issues, and corrective action system status updates. The successful candidate will work closely with departmental leadership to ensure corrective actions are implemented and maintained.

•Manage facility health & safety programs including organizing and directing resources, communicating and leading facility health and safety initiatives, as well as managing safety

•Interpret specifications and documents; determining ability to comply with specs.
•Conduct and/or oversee audits, inspections and tests to verify acceptable compliance as well as identify defects or potential liabilities.
•Develop processes and appropriate documentation as needed for new equipment or processes.
•Maintain documentation and compliance with external standards, such as IAS AC-472.
•Review policies annually; making necessary revisions to ensure requirements are met. Submit to General Manager for review and final approval.
•Provide technical expertise and guidance to areas regarding safety and quality-related issues.
•Administer company Corrective Action Report (CAR) System; evaluating to ensure actions mitigate future reoccurrence. Monitor actions implemented to assess sustainability and make recommendation for change when corrective action is not meeting the intended results.
•Implement corrective actions as necessary for processes, procedures, methods and/or products which do not fulfill appropriate requirements, including Regulatory or IAS AC-472 accreditation.
•Build professional relationships with industry professionals and organizations such as IAS, MBMA, etc.
•Assure annual management reviews are conducted and documented to verify adequacy and effectiveness of the quality system. Annual reviews must produce a summary and documented action plan for improvement. Documents to be considered during management review must include customer complaints, back-charges, audit results and corrective actions.
•Oversee the development and documentation of specifications, methods and standard operating procedures.
•Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data, including preparation of graphs and charts for analysis and reporting.
•Report monthly quality results to Management team. Information will include quality issues; corrective actions process updates including actions implemented and the associated cost for quality defects.
•Develop and track metrics and key performance indicators to provide information for safety, quality and risk reduction.
•Perform any other duties or tasks, as requested or assigned by leaders.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree – Preferred, Field of Study: Business, Engineering or Related field

Experience:
5 plus years of experience in Manufacturing Setting with quality assurance, safety & continuous process improvements. Experience in the Metal Building Industry preferred.Computer

Skills:
Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Windows, Picture and Fax Viewer

Certifications &Licenses:
American Society of Quality Control – Preferred

Other Requirements:
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills are required. Experience in the metal-building industry is preferred. Understanding of the metal building industry techniques are essential. Knowledge of general production procedures including reading and interpreting production blueprints (show drawings) is important. Strong aptitude with math / algebraic skills and use of basic measuring and testing equipment is beneficial. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds consistently and stand for long periods of time. May occasionally be required to travel to a jobsite to conduct on-site inspections
